Little Girl is not that little. She’s actually pretty average in terms of size. Her black and white fur is short, and though her white whiskers contrast starkly against her face, she isn’t that flashy. When she is in her kennel, she sits meekly, patiently waiting for someone to approach her. She doesn’t stand out.

Yet, Little Girl is the quintessential girl next door: She’s laid back, easy to be around, fun and low maintenance.

We meet with her today after a hectic weekend at the SB Humane Society.

Q: We’ve been acting as a small animal evacuation center because of the Whittier Fire. So, thank you for agreeing to reschedule this interview!

A: I can tell that the fire has staff a little stressed. It is the least that I could do to reschedule. I can’t really help clean up my own litter, can I?

Q: I have a feeling that if you could, you would.

A: Totally!

Q: I mean, that pretty much sums up your personality.

A: You’re making me sound too good to be true. I agree with Marcus Aurelius here, that “a cat shouldn’t give circumstances the power to rouse anger, for they don’t care at all.”

Q: Let’s move on to our usual questions to help potential adopters get to know you. Where do you see yourself in a year?

A: Seneca said, “if a cat knows not to which port she sails, no wind is favorable”. So, I do have an idea of where I would like to go, however, at the same time, I am open to whatever the universe provides.

Q: It helps to be open to many options when you are looking for a new home. However, you must have some stipulations for your new humans, whoever they will be.

A: I’ll answer with another quote: “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” -Viktor Frankl. I can adapt to whatever comes my way; dogs, other cats, children; life in a studio, or life on a ranch. I would live in the ranch house, of course, if life on a ranch came my way. However open I am to new experiences, I am not born to be a barn cat. I prefer to philosophize from the inside.

Q: Thank you for meeting with us. Your cattitude is an inspiration to us all.

A: Thank mew!

Check out Honey’s interview!

I am open to whatever the universe provides.
